Norya's Story

My first design was a modern take on the traditional ABAYA. I used printed and colored fabrics to transform it into a casual dress for women. It was a huge success. I have always wanted to modernize oriental fashion. The American artist Mos Def once told me, “Norya you are going to democratize the ABAYA.” Today, I dress women of all nationalities, beliefs, and ages with my ABAYA. Long dresses have become a modern trend.

At Norya ayroN, we focus on simple lines and clean designs. We believe in elegance and style without sacrificing comfort. As Sharon Stone said of my collection, “There is no longer any need to suffer to be beautiful.”

My work is guided by freedom and originality. My collections are inspired by Morocco, the desert, the light, the medinas, the colours, and Berber jewellery. Everything here is inspiring.

Fabric quality is the foundation of my work. The feel of the fabric and the appreciation of colours and prints are important. My first collection was made in 10 days with local fabrics. Now, nine years later, I design and produce my own fabrics. I am collaborating with painters to create my next prints.

My fabrics have the Oeko-Tex label, a standard for better ecological practices.
